WATER-BASED ELECTROMOBILITY

As pioneers in the field of electric mobility, Torqeedo has set many standards since founding the company, reinforcing the lead of our electric boat motors over all other solutions available on the market.
Superior technology and revolutionary benefits are what Torqeedo sets out to achieve. And every product that Torqeedo brings to market meets both these criteria. All our drive systems operate at record levels regarding overall efficiency. This is the most important measure of electric propulsion as it determines potential power and range for a limited battery supply.

Torqeedo offers outboards and inboards, electric boat motors and hybrid drive systems ranging from 0 5 to 100 kW on motor level (up to 200 kW on system level). There are also all sorts of functional and innovative accessories – from lithium batteries and solar-charging equipment to smartphone apps.

A MINIMISED IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT

The OXE Diesel outboard engine reduces fuel consumption by over 42%. This is compared to a modern gasoline outboard engine of equivalent horsepower, setting new standards for internal combustion engines within the global outboard engine industry. By using highly refined automotive-based engine technology, the OXE Diesel is leading in the marine industry with the lowest fuel consumption levels, as well as the lowest emission levels on the market in an outboard combustion engine, while still maintaining range. The result is a minimised impact on the environment, significantly reducing not only CO₂ but also CO, HC, and NOx emissions.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility

UN Environment launched #CleanSeas in February 2017 with the aim of engaging governments, the general public, civil society and the private sector in the fight against marine plastic litter. Over the past five years, this campaign has aimed to address the root cause of marine litter by targeting the production and consumption of single-use plastic.

Southern Power helped to launch, and pledged towards, the initiative. Over the past two years, the Clean Seas Campaign has become one of the largest global campaigns for combatting marine plastic pollution with national commitments from 60 countries covering more than 60% of the world’s coastlines. It has become a catalyst for change, inspiring governments to pass plastic reduction policies, encouraging industry to minimise plastic packaging, redesign products, motivate consumers to change their habits and demand more action from both the public and private sectors.

7 THINGS YOU CAN DO TO SAVE OUR OCEANS!

EDUCATE YOURSELF

It’s hard to clean up the ocean without knowing why and how it gets polluted in the first place. So the first step is to become informed. Go online, turn on a documentary, or grab a book from the library. There are countless ways to learn about the ocean without having to move off the couch!

CUT DOWN ON PLASTIC USE

Single-use plastics are among the most wasteful items out there, but they’re also the easiest change you can make to your lifestyle. Instead of buying single-use plastic water bottles in bulk, switch to reusable bottles you can fill up again and again. Make that change in your own home as well.

VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME TO CLEAN UP

Picking up litter while on a beach holiday is great, however you can also organise your own clean-up in your community if you live near an ocean. First, talk to local politicians and community groups to see if there’s an existing ocean-cleaning effort in your area.

DON'T THROW ANYTHING OVERBOARD

Whether you’re out on a cruise or fishing on a lake, be mindful of what you leave behind. Never throw any rubbish overboard, even if you think it’s harmless like a stray fishing hook or line or something small like a used piece of chewing gum or a cigarette butt. There’s a ripple effect to any foreign item that enters a waterway. Often the result is that those tiny items accumulate into a large problem for the local ecosystem.

DONATE TO AN OCEAN CHARITY

Not everyone who lives near an ocean help do the legwork, but a simple donation can go a long way. Research charities in your province or around the country that help clean the ocean and see if they’re holding a fundraiser or collecting supplies for a clean-up effort.

WATCH WHAT YOU EAT

UNDERSTAND YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

Carbon dioxide isn’t just responsible for pollution in the air—it also makes its way into the ocean. In fact, about a third of manmade CO₂makes its way into the ocean, which equates to about 22 million tonnes a day. This can cause acidification of the water, which affects the health of the marine life —especially shelled animals— that live there.
